COVID-19: our response to the global crisis
As a global business with over 21,000 employees in more than 30 countries, our priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, supplier partners and the communities in which we operate. That’s why we’ve introduced new protocols to minimize the risk of infection for all of our teams and stakeholders.
Our Business Resilience Task Force has helped transform our working practises, enabling office staff to work from home where possible.
Meanwhile, our mines, manufacturing plants and ports continue to operate so that we can play our role in feeding the world throughout these fragile times. Naturally, we’re taking all of the steps we can to minimize the risk of infection from COVID-19 for the reduced teams working at those sites.
Beyond these actions, we stand alongside our country, and the communities we serve in our major international markets. Just as we feel obligated to carefully steward Morocco’s phosphate reserves, we feel connected to the people and businesses around us.
We have a responsibility to support the people, businesses and communities we serve throughout the pandemic. We’re doing everything in our power to support the health and education sectors; helping our hospital infrastructure to stem the crisis as much as possible, and equipping the country’s education programs with the digital teaching resources that they need in order to continue. We’re providing on-going support for the small businesses and cooperatives we work with so that they can continue to operate and grow. Through programs like Act4Community (our community engagement association), the OCP Foundation and the Phosboucraa Foundation, our teams are finding ways to make a positive impact on their local communities.
In the face of this unprecedented global crisis, the most important thing we can do is stay true to our values and work together, across borders, to find solutions to new problems. By harnessing our collective goodwill and capacity for innovation, we will get through these challenging times; we will learn from them and move forward together, with more strength and wisdom than ever before.
Protecting our people and communities against COVID-19
Since the global pandemic outbreak, we’ve introduced new working practises and sanitary precautions to minimize the threat of infection. All while keeping production levels as close to normal as possible so that we can continue to play our role in feeding the world.
Supporting our nation through the crisis
As well as contributing to the national COVID-19 crisis fund, OCP is providing medical and protective equipment to our national health services. We’re working closely with the Moroccan Ministry of National Education to deliver an ambitious education continuity plan, too.
What we’re doing to support farmers
We’re working hard to keep our famers supplied with the mineral and fertilizers they need to continue production. We’re also implementing new strategies to support their health and mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19 on rural communities.
